When is the best time to get pregnant? Needless to say, if you want to conceive, it is vital that you are ovulating and your spouse, capable of producing lively feisty sperm. However, putting two healthy bodies together does not necessarily result in pregnancy.

Timing is the key!
The timing of your copulation has to be precise, so that when you release your egg, there is sperm, alive and well, swimming around in anticipation of union with your egg.
Bear in mind these facts; your egg can live for about 1 to 2 days after ovulation and your spouse's sperm can live for about 3 to 5 days within your genital tract.
Based on these information, your most fertile period or fertile window covers the time from some 3 to 4 days before ovulation until 1-2 days after ovulation.
Therefore, if you have an average 28-day menstrual cycle, your fertile period should be from the 10th to the 16th day from the beginning of your period. You can time your intercourse during this period to achieve a pregnancy.
However, if your menstrual cycles are long and irregular, it would be harder to predict your ovulation because you don't have clear signs of ovulation. There may even be months when you are not ovulating at all and therefore, cannot conceive.
