Cervical Position
Signs of Ovulation

Another fertility sign you can look out for is your cervical position.

Your cervix is the mouth to your uterus or womb. It is the lower part of your uterus that adjoins your vagina.

The positioning of your cervix is yet another one of your signs of ovulation.

Do you know that your cervix actually moves within your vagina throughout the days in your menstrual cycle? By checking its position, you can get a good idea of when you are going to ovulate.

Nature has it that on ordinary days, your cervix is less accessible to sperms. However, its position changes near the time of ovulation to make the path for the sperms easier, allowing them to travel directly into your uterus.

Checking your cervical position is relatively simple. Make sure that your nails aren't sharp because the tissue of your cervix and vagina is fragile. Wash your hands and underneath the nails. Sit on the toilet, or standing with one foot on the edge of the tub, insert an index finger into your vagina. Reach for the soft tip of your cervix and gauge its position.

Feel for the opening of your cervix in relation to your vagina, to see if it is pointing to the center of the vagina. Your cervix hangs lower on infertile days and will rise higher as ovulation approaches. You can even feel that its tip is more open on your fertile days.

At first, you may not be used to checking your cervix. Don't be discouraged. You may need to adjust your body in various positions until you are comfortable. Though you may be unsure of the position of your cervix initially, as you repeat the procedure and get used to your body, you will soon get an impression of the changes that are taking place inside.
