Confirmation of Pregnancy

You would like to get confirmation of pregnancy. The crux of the matter is, you may or may not be pregnant even if you have some of the signs of pregnancy discussed in previous pages. You could be suffering from a hormonal imbalance or sick instead.

On the other hand, you may have non of the above symptoms and yet very much pregnant!

There are only two ways to confirm your pregnancy; via a home-pregnancy test or consult a doctor.

In order to validate your pregnancy, your doctor will ask you for the various signs of pregnancy, find out the

date of your last period (to estimate when you've conceived and to determine the due date if you're indeed

pregnant) and check you cervix and uterus to see if they have softened, indicating that pregnancy could have

occurred.

If he has any doubt, he may order an ultrasound check where he'll be able to see your embryo or gestational

sac. Your embryo is visible as early as 4 - 6 weeks after conception, and its heartbeat heard as early as 10

weeks. Any later, you'll be able to feel his movements in you, and that's a great feeling!
