Male Sexual Dysfunction

Sexual dysfunction is defined as a disruption in the process of getting the sperm out of a man's body.

This can happen even when he is not having any medical problem with his sperm or semen. This is more of a psychological factor rather than a real cause of male infertility.

If your spouse has this problem and he is feeling inadequate with his dysfunction, encourage him to brooch the subject with his doctor. Male infertility treatment in psychological cases begins with counseling. Painful and embarrassing as it may be, it is important for him to discuss this with a health specialist to get to the root of the problem.

Once the causes are identified, many of the problems associated with sexual dysfunction can be treated quite easily.

  • Erectile Dysfunction:

Erectile dysfunction is another name for male impotence. It is the inability to get and maintain an erection.

Those with this dysfunction are typically pass the age of forty, though it can hit younger men too. It is estimated that about 10% of male suffers from this problem at some point in their lives.

A periodic or chronic impotence can lead to male infertility as an erection is necessary for ejaculation.

Causes of erectile dysfunction are varied. Medications that your spouse takes for high blood pressure, tranquilisers or antidepressants can cause it. Stress, worry and other psychological problems are the most common cause of impotence.

Depending on the cause, it can be treated with medications, counselling or therapy.

The patient has to be truthful about his sex life with his doctor so that the cause of his condition can be identified quickly.

  • Premature Ejaculation:

Premature ejaculation is when the man ejaculates too soon and thus failing to deposit his sperm near the cervix. It is a problem found more in younger men before they learn to control their body.

Premature ejaculation is more of a psychological problem than a physical problem, caused perhaps, by performance anxiety or other pressures.

It can be treated with counselling.
